PERSON
In his work Christian Bode is approaching ›being‹ from two sides: the idea and the thing, more specifically the narrative and the phenomenological. Thus he pursues new iconographic approaches of cultural narrations (i.e. Märchen) concerning their archetypal motives on the one hand and on the other he seeks subjectively attractive phenomena (i.e. persons and trees) in a certain particular presence. While the narrative works are painted in a time consuming and planned manner with egg tempera on panels in the studio, the observed works favour more mobile and subtler materials like paper, watercolors and gouache and are done with a situational time limitation not denying their "study-character". Besides the different ways the aim doesn't differ much: images as devotional meditations on being in the world. (C. B., 2. VI. 2022)
